Wow, life really is amazing. I came on here today to leave a note that I wasn't going to post here anymore right now because I need to focus on one type of media at a time. But as I started typing, I noticed a button to the right of my page that indicates that I can share these posts on facebook. Woohoo! That covers both places at once, and now I have a better understanding of how best to connect with you!
That said, I will still likely post more on facebook than here, so please drop by and visit me at https://www.facebook.com/Kayleigh.Radatus.CLC Hope you're having a wonderful fall! Kayleigh

Well, its been much longer than I'd have liked since I posted here. I moderately injured my back in late May, then further injured it in June and have been struggling with quite a bit of pain ever since. I decided to see a physiotherapist last week and it appears that I have pinched a nerve. Ouch! The good news is that it won't take long to fix it up now that I'm getting more help through the physiotherapist.
You might notice a few changes in the way I'm describing what I do. I realized that telling people I am a Certified Life Coach really wasn't enough information for anyone to understand what I do. Having this back injury gave me lots of time to think, and I do mean LOTS, and with it the opportunity to discover a new way of speaking about my work. And; The Groove Guide was born. Nothing else describes my work so well as when I say that I teach musicians and music-lovers how to create a life that feels like music; I am the Groove Guide. It's about bring rhythm to life, and passion, creativity, energy and flow...and so many other elements that make music so wonderful. Connecting with all of these elements and bringing them into life really does make for a life that feels like music. Try a little of it now; what can you do today to make your life feel like your favourite song? I'd love to hear what song you chose, and what you did! You can get in touch with me using the "Contact" button above. Hope you enjoy your weekend! I've been working on a new logo design for a long time. I wanted something that felt like me. And now it's here. Yahoo!!!
If you haven't seen it yet, then pop by the home page as it's posted there. I can't even begin to tell you how happy that logo makes me. I felt great sketching it out, trying different twists on the theme, and different ideas. What I came up with resonates very powerfully for me. Love & music. Music & love. They're both so tied up in who I am, there is no way to separate them, and I wouldn't want to. Happy weekend! Join me on The Happiness Expedition!

We'll be using art and music (you don't need to be an artist or a musician!) to connect & connect with your past, present and future. We will have two special guests joining us during week 3 and week 5 who will provide additional tools to aid you in Your Happiness Expedition. A lack of focus is one of the biggest barriers for many people wanting to accomplish a significant goal. With all of the distractions in life today its very easy to become side tracked. Combine all those little distractions with the reality of very busy lives and its not surprising that people become bogged down and don’t accomplish their goals. If you’re ready to change that trend in your own life, keep reading for some great tips on how to keep focused.
Remove distractions. Constantly checking your email, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or responding to calls and texts will get you nowhere. There is a time for those things but not while you are creating a sacred space for your work. You'll get more done if you allow your mind to get in the groove with some peace and quiet. Turn off your email, close your web browsers, shut your phone off or forward it to voicemail, and put on headphones if you’re in a noisy or distracting environment. Do this with the understanding that very little is so urgent that it cannot wait while you work for an hour. Disconnecting in this way can be difficult, but being in constant contact is simply a habit that you can change with commitment. Decide to commit 100% to your goal.100% commitment makes accomplishing your goal much simpler. No question, no waffling, no uncertainty about accomplishing your goal. You are accomplishing that goal, NO MATTER WHAT. Make sure your goal is really what you want. If you’re even a little unsure about the goal, it becomes harder to be fully committed, and you're more likely to allow distractions to overtake your mind. More often than not, you'll use distractions to create excuses and exceptions to justify your lack of focus. When you are committed, it is easier to ignore distractions and keep your focus. This is something only you can decide. Set a time limit. Decide how long you have to complete the portion of the goal you are working on. This is an important element of effective goal setting. When you decide on a completion date, you'll be more likely to accomplish your goal. Take breaks. This may sound contradictory, but actually makes a world of difference when you are working within a large block of time. If we work too long at one time, not only do we become physically tired, but our minds tire as well. This makes us more susceptible to distractions and shatters our concentration. Work intently for an hour and then allow yourself a 10-minute break. When you return from the break, you'll be more focused, your mind will be clearer, and you'll be more likely to work for another hour without losing focus. Think of your favourite song. Now imagine if that song had no breaks between the notes, no pauses, no variation in the length of the note. How fun, interesting, inspiring, and beautiful would that song be? Life is just like music. We need breaks and variation. This strategy allows you to get more work done in a shorter time. Use lists. Lists are wonderful tools that help you accomplish your work quicker and easier. Before beginning, write down everything you need to accomplish and then cross out each task as you complete it. The process of crossing things off your list can be a great motivator to keep you working without distractions, plus it helps build the momentum to get everything done. For some people, a “ta-da” list is more effective than crossing things off of a list. When you complete a task, move it to your “ta-da” list. Check out www.workflowy.com for a great online list-making tool. Reward yourself! When you complete one of the steps towards your goal, reward yourself. Rewards are not just for the bigger end result. Use rewards to maintain your motivation and focus. They don’t have to be big rewards. Something as simple as your favourite latte, a glass of wine, or a sweet treat can be a great reward for completing one of the steps towards your goal. Rewards remind you to value yourself and your efforts, and nothing is more important than remembering your worth! Remember, you're human, too. If you lose focus, let go of annoyance at yourself, take a deep breath, and recommit to your goal. As soon as you can after recommitting, get back to working on your goal. Practice these techniques until they become habit and enjoy your rewards! As you can see, I've made some changes to the look of this blog, and in the process of making those changes all of my posts had to be reposted. None of the posts prior to this one are new, but the dates make it look like they are. I'd like to develop some consistency in my blogging so I'm aiming to post a new entry here each week. If you'd like to see a post about a particular topic related to my work, please drop me a line using the form on the Contact page. Thank you!
I saw a great video about rhythm with my daughter yesterday. We were watching Sesame Street. Yes, you read that right; Sesame Street.
I came across this video, where a man is playing a steel drum and starts talking about how there is rhythm all around us; in a person's walk, or in the waves. In one segment, he is riding with some children in a carriage, and the horse's hooves are clipping a steady beat on the road. He listens for a moment, then starts to play his steel drum along with the horse's hoof beats. Magic! The point here is that rhythm is everywhere in life and the more we struggle to control, the less connection we have to the rhythm in the world, in our own lives, and in ourselves. My daughter came down with a nasty bug on the weekend, and she was feeling pretty crummy yesterday. I've been trying not to get the bug too, but it's a tough go when I'm not getting enough sleep. It's not easy to slow down and change the groove of my life when things like this come up. I keep wanting to try to maintain the same rhythm as always, while my body is hollering at me to change that groove and rest. Watching, and listening to that video was a great reminder. I'm tired. Everything about me needs rest right now. And that is exactly what I'm going to do. Incidentally, if you want to see the video I'm talking about, click here.
